Great Books

Just finished a wonderful book by Angela Hunt.  "The Pearl"  this book is set in the current time of the year of 1997-2000.  Angela mentions President Bush, Saddam Husein an and many other current events of our time.  I enjoyed this book and could not put it down.  Angela Hunt is a Christian and her faith is shown throughout this book.   The book main thought is that at what price and sacrifices are you willing to give up for what you "think" you want in life.  Many times we use God instead of listening to him and following what scripture says about certain situations.  The main character in the book Dr. Diana Sheldon lost her son to a car accident, & she was willing to pursue anything to get her son back.  Cloning is the main thought in this book and what implications it this ever happened in America that cloning would create.  She was willing to do this but at the cost of her other child and her marriage.  It does have a good ending so I would encourage anyone to read this great book.  Diane

New School Year Already?

Oh my were has the time went, once again another school year looms ahead of us in a few weeks, but it is a bitter sweet year for my baby Girl. Kayla is finally a Senior!, I look back and wonder where did all the time go from the first memory of bringing my firstborn home from the hospital to now.  She is a precious and loving daughter.  She does her momma proud with her life choices and the reflection of Christ that I see in her life.  She is always bubbly and loving life.  I used to get frustrated with her when she was little when she was faced with making a choice of whether to choose chocolate or gummy bears she would take forever, as adult we forget what makes life worth living and get stuck in a rut in living our everyday life. Whenever I have a choice to make I always am reminded of my Kayla's outlook, go ahead and choose the pretty purse, make if fun, it is not just something to carry your items in, go ahead and get the pretty one! Thanks Kayla for adding lots of Sunshine to my Life! I Love You! Momma

Never Alone

In this crazy mixed up world, with everyone on their iphones, ipods and multiple tasking tools galore, we are way too busy, I call it the "hamster on the wheel syndrome."   I long to just stop sometimes and get off the world, just for a little while, because we are way to busy trying to "make a living" and just not Living.  I sometimes feel alone in all of this madness.  Then I have to remember that I an never alone, that My Lord and Master says that He will never leave me nor forsake me, no matter what. One of my favorite passages of scripture is Psalms 139 it shows that no matter were or what I am never alone. Psalm 139:2 Thou hast knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thoughts afar off. 3. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquanited with all my ways. 4. For there is not a word in my tougue, but lo Lord, thou knowest it altogather.  5. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.  Just read the entire chapter, it just gets better,  I have noticed in many scripture that it all ways refers to his right hand or us as christians being on the right side, well this is really cool, according to the strong's concordance "right" means something really cool!  It refers "anointed" a place reserved for royality. We are the Sons and Daughters of the King!

SNOW DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW, we actually had 7 inches of snow at our house, last week. It was so cool.  Kevin could not wait to go out and just play in it. He went sledding on an improvised sled made out of a garbage bag and a lid. It worked great. Then he and Kayla had the great idea to blow up an air mattress and sled down the front of our hill. It was awesome.  We made snowcreme. The kids had never had snowcreme for the simple reason that it has never snowed enough to make snowcreme. But as the days wore on both Kayla and Kevin were ready for the snow to leave.  I was also because we had to leave the cars at the foot of the hill and walk down every morning just to leave for work. Well the snow has finally left enough that I can now drive to work. But there is still some left. My mamaw Strickland always used to say it there is still snow lying around, it is just waiting for more snow!  I hear that there is more snow coming this Thursday, get Ready Everyone, more Snow...Happy Sledding!

My Baby Boy is a Teenager

I recently blogged about my daughter, now is is Kevin's turn.  I am now offically the mom of two Teenagers. Kevin turned 13 on Sunday, December 19, 2010.  He is a sweetie. I call him my gentle giant, he is stronger than me, but is very good with the babies at church. Where has the time went? I am counting more than a couple of gray hairs now. But Praise the Lord for all my Blessings and Kevin is one of my Blessings. He is an avid deer hunter, he is a great help to his daddy on the farm.  He has been taught to work. He will always be my baby boy even when he is 50! Love you Kevin!

Birthdays!

My baby girl will be 17 years old this week.  She is truly is a blessing to me. She is an answer to my prayers.  It still amazes me that God chose me to be her momma.  Before she was born, I prayed that God would give me children.  My prayer was Psalm 62:7-8, You see I am an insulin dependant diabetic. Praises to His sweet name that He would bless me with two healthly children, Isaiah 61:3 "TO APPOINT UNTO THEM THAT MOURN IN ZION, TO GIVE UNTO THEM BEAUTY FOR ASHES, THE OIL OF JOY FOR MOURNING, THE GARMENT OF PRAISE FOR THE GARMENT OF HEAVINESS; THAT HEY MIGHT BE CALLED THE TREES OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, THE PLANTING OF THE LORD, THAT HE MIGHT BE GLORFIED."  Praise His name for Kayla. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY GIRL. Love ya!
